    About the Envelope Template Generator

    📏 Fits your card

Enter the card size and the envelope gets just enough room for the card to slide in — or type the finished envelope size if you're matching a standard one.

    ✉️ Two classic folds

The classic style has side flaps and a glued bottom pocket like a shop-bought envelope. The diamond style folds four pointed flaps in from a single sheet.

    💌 Five flap shapes

Pointed, straight, rounded, wallet or scalloped — and an optional liner template cut to fit inside the flap for a patterned-paper finish.

    🪟 Address window

Add a window in the standard place for DL and #10 business envelopes, so a folded letter's address shows through.

    🖨️ Any paper

Prints on A4, Letter, A3 or 12 × 12 inch scrapbook paper. Bigger envelopes split across pages with alignment marks.

    ✂️ Cutting machines

Download an SVG with cut and score lines on separate layers, in real millimetres, for Cricut, Silhouette or a laser cutter.

    Finish the set

Print matching return-address stickers with the label sheet maker, or a small gift box to post alongside the card with the box template generator. Writing the card by hand? Practise on guide lines from the printable calligraphy paper first.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What size envelope do I need for a 5 x 7 card?

A 5 × 7 inch card fits an A7 envelope, which is 5¼ × 7¼ inches. Pick "5 × 7 card (A7)" from the list and the template is sized for you.

How much bigger than the card should an envelope be?

About 3 mm (⅛ inch) on each side is the usual allowance — enough for the card to slide in without rattling. In "Card size" mode the tool adds this for you.

What paper is best for envelopes?

Paper around 90–120 gsm (24–32 lb) folds crisply and is strong enough to post. Thicker card is fine for hand-delivered envelopes. Wrapping paper and magazine pages make fun envelopes too — trace the template on the back.

Can I post a homemade envelope?

Usually yes, as long as it is sealed well, the address is clearly readable and it meets your postal service's size and thickness rules. Square or unusually shaped envelopes may cost extra postage.

    What is an envelope liner?

A liner is a sheet of decorative paper glued inside the envelope so the pattern shows when the flap opens. The liner template is cut slightly smaller than the flap and folds along the same line.

What size envelope fits an A6 card?

    A C6 envelope (114 × 162 mm) fits an A6 card (105 × 148 mm). In US sizes, an A6 envelope (4¾ × 6½ in) fits a 4½ × 6¼ in card.

What size is a DL envelope?

DL is 110 × 220 mm and holds an A4 sheet folded in three — the standard business letter envelope outside North America.
